Job Title: Upholsterer
Location: Grays, Essex
Salary: £15.00 per hour

Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced upholsterer to repair, restore and reupholster a variety of bespoke furniture. The upholsterer is responsible for producing high-quality finishes, ensuring furniture is comfortable, durable and completed to customer specifications.

Responsibilities

• Strip existing fabric, coverings and upholstery from furniture.
• Inspect furniture frames, springs, webbing and padding for damage or wear.
• Repair and restore furniture frames where necessary.
• Measure, cut and prepare upholstery fabrics, leather and other materials.
• Replace foam, padding, springs and webbing as required.
• Sew, fit and secure upholstery materials using appropriate tools and machinery.
• Reupholster sofas, chairs, headboards and other furniture.
• Ensure high standards of workmanship and attention to detail.
• Follow customer specifications, patterns and design requirements.
• Maintain a clean, tidy and safe working environment.
• Use upholstery tools and machinery safely and correctly.
• Manage materials efficiently and minimise waste.
• Complete work within agreed timescales.

Skills and Experience

• Previous experience in upholstery or furniture restoration.
• Good practical and handcraft skills.
• Knowledge of upholstery fabrics, materials and techniques.
• Ability to measure, cut and sew accurately.
• Good attention to detail and pride in workmanship.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work to deadlines.
