Job Title: Sales Representative – Builders Merchant
Location: Thurrock
Job Type: Full-Time (Temp to Perm)
About the Role:
Our client, a well-established and reputable builders merchant, is seeking a driven and customer-focused Sales Representative to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a fast-paced environment supplying building materials to trade and retail customers.
As a Sales Representative, you will play a key role in developing new business, managing existing accounts, and delivering outstanding service to customers within the construction sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with trade customers, contractors, and DIY clients
- Proactively generate new business opportunities and grow existing accounts
- Provide expert advice on building materials and products
- Prepare and follow up on quotes, ensuring a high conversion rate
- Achieve and exceed sales targets set by management
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure smooth order processing and delivery
- Keep up to date with product ranges, pricing, and industry trends
Requirements:
- Previous sales experience, ideally within a builders merchant or construction-related environment
- Strong knowledge of building materials (preferred)
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Customer-focused with a proactive approach to sales
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Good IT skills and experience using sales/order systems
- Own transport is preferable due to location
