Gardener / Park Maintenance Operative – Grays
Location: Grays, Essex
Pay Rate: £13.76 per hour
Hours: 8am – 4pm
Working Days: 2-3 days per week
Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Gardener to help maintain and care for a large public park. This role involves hands-on gardening, grounds maintenance, and ensuring the park remains safe, clean, and welcoming for visitors all year round.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain lawns, flowerbeds, shrubs, and trees across the park
- Carry out planting, pruning, weeding, and general horticultural work
- Operate gardening and grounds maintenance equipment safely
- Assist with seasonal tasks such as planting schemes and leaf clearance
- Ensure paths, green spaces, and facilities are kept tidy and presentable
- Report any hazards, damage, or maintenance issues
Requirements
- Previous gardening or grounds maintenance experience preferred
- Knowledge of plants, lawn care, and seasonal maintenance
- Ability to operate tools and machinery (e.g. mowers, strimmers)
- Physically fit and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently
