Employment Agencies, such as GBN, are the best place to start looking for temporary work.
Do you have experience in a certain area, such as catering, retail or admin? If you are in a position where you’re able to take a flexible approach to work, then temping is a great opportunity for you to gain invaluable experience and get your foot in the door with an organisation. Some people see temporary work as an opportunity to earn some money and fill a gap in employment on their CV, whilst deciding which direction they want to take their career in.
If, on the other hand, you don’t have much work experience but your CV demonstrates that you’re hard-working and you have strong ICT skills, for example, then finding a temporary job is a great place for you to get started in the world of work; again, our advisors can help steer you in the right direction.
Once you have a CV you’re happy with, you can start targeting employers directly by handing them out in an area you’re able to travel to, and also emailing them. Don’t be disheartened if you don’t find work straight away, by persevering and emphasising that you are available immediately, and can be flexible with the hours you’re willing to work, it will only be a matter of time before you find something.
